Health Reporter The Times
Child is a journalist for The Times in Johannesburg. After teaching English as a second language in Taiwan and Cape Town, she returned to study Journalism at Wits University. She subsequently interned at Talk Radio 702 and trained students to write and collect radio news at Wits University’s radio station. In 2011, Child was awarded the Anthony Sampson Fellowship to do rural health reporting. She went to the middle of nowhere in KwaZulu-Natal to find untold stories, one of which was published in Mail & Guardian. Child has worked for The Times since January 2012.
