About IWMF: Board of Directors

Akwe AmosuAkwe Amosu is a senior policy analyst for Africa at the Washington office of the Open Society Institute. She facilitates links between OSI’s Africa-based foundations, initiatives and grantees, and the international policy community in Washington, DC, as well as sharing OSI perspectives on African issues and collaborating with other organizations in areas of joint concern.

Before joining OSI, Amosu worked for more than 20 years as a journalist and editor in print and broadcast media as well as online news, most recently as the executive editor/producer for AllAfrica Global Media and its website, allAfrica.com, the largest distributor of African news and information worldwide.

Prior to joining AllAfrica, Amosu was a senior editor (executive producer) at the BBC World Service in London, where she was responsible for flagship World Service programs and for award-winning African Service shows. While at the BBC, Amosu forged a path-breaking joint venture between that media company and the South African Broadcasting Corporation. Amosu has also served as a desk editor at the Financial Times ( London), a reporter for West Africa magazine and for two years was head of communication for the UN's Economic Commission for Africa in Ethiopia.
