Jane B. Ransom
Executive Director

Jane Ransom is the executive director of the International Women’s Media Foundation. Ransom brings a background as a leader in non-profit organizations and an advocate for women to the IWMF. From 2004 - 2006, she was vice president of strategic initiatives for the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota (WFMN), an organization that champions economic, political and social equality for women. Ransom held this position while living in Bologna, Italy. Prior to that, she was president and CEO of WFMN, leading the organization during a time of major renewal and growth.

In addition to leadership positions at WFMN, Ransom has held executive and consulting positions with organizations such as Women and Philanthropy, Central Pennsylvania Legal Services and Woodside On The Move in Queens, New York. Her professional accomplishments include developing visionary strategic plans; directing research, education and advocacy initiatives; evaluating international internship programs and co-coordinating a $15 million fundraising campaign. Among her other achievements are establishing a national internship program for undergraduate women of color and initiating homeless prevention programs.

The recipient of a Minnesota Women in Business Changemaker Award in 2004, Ransom has served on the board of directors of Hope International and The Fundraising Project and was communications chair for the Council of United Way of York County, Pennsylvania, among other community involvements.

She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the Bernard M. Baruch College of City University of New York and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Kent State University.
