Broadcast journalist Judy Woodruff is a senior correspondent for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. She leads in-studio discussions, reports from the field and conducts interviews. She also acts as a back-up anchor to Jim Lehrer and will serve as editor of The NewsHour's 2008 political coverage.

 

Woodruff has covered politics and other news for more than three decades at CNN, PBS and NBC. For 12 years, she served as anchor and senior correspondent for CNN, anchoring the weekday political program, Inside Politics.

 

Woodruff was the chief Washington correspondent for The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour at PBS from 1983 to 1993. From 1984-1990, she anchored PBS' award-winning weekly documentary series, Frontline with Judy Woodruff. At NBC News, Woodruff served as White House correspondent from 1977 to 1982. For one year after that she served as NBC's Today Show Chief Washington correspondent. She wrote the book, This is Judy Woodruff at the White House, which was published in 1982.

 

Woodruff recently worked with MacNeil/Lehrer Productions on Generation Next: Speak Up. Be Heard, a documentary project that aired on PBS in January 2007.

 

Woodruff also anchors “Conversations with Judy Woodruff,” a monthly program for Bloomberg Television, and is a consultant to CNN. She has served as a visiting professor at Duke and Harvard universities.
