Maureen Bunyan is a veteran news broadcaster and a primary news anchor for WJLA-TV, the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C. She joined the station in 1999 to anchor the 6 and 11 p.m. news broadcasts.
From 1973 to 1995, Bunyan was a lead news anchor for WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. She has reported from the field on major local, national and international stories. She has won seven local Emmys and was named 1992 Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists.
Bunyan is a founder of NABJ and has been recognized for her accomplishments by the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and many other professional and community groups.
