About IWMF: Board of Directors

Tom Mshindi is the managing director of the Monitor Publications Ltd. in Kampala, Uganda. A media and communications expert, Mshindi has trained and worked as a journalist, development communications specialist and senior media manager in Kenya and abroad.

Mshindi worked for the Nation Media Group in Nairobi as a journalist and was the managing editor of the Group’s flagship, the Daily Nation, before joining UNICEF as an editor in New York. He later moved to Nigeria, where he worked as UNICEF’s chief of communication in its Nigeria program. In 2003, Mshindi returned to Nairobi as the managing director and chief executive officer of the Standard Media Group in Kenya.

Mshindi has consulted under two companies, Lovelife Media Africa Ltd. and Words Warehouse, firms that offer training and publishing services in communication strategies and management. Mshindi has also been a columnist for the Daily Nation and holds master’s degrees in communications and international affairs.
