The IWMF's Mission is to strengthen the role of women in the news media worldwide.
The Domestic Abuse Awareness project, which Ferrato founded in 1991, continues to thrive - educating the public about the societal causes of violence against women through her photographs. Her pictures have appeared in a number of major magazines.
In 1996, Ferrato produced a documentary for German television on incest. She has also published a book, "Living With the Enemy," which chronicles domestic violence and the impact on families.
