Bachi Karkaria
Bachi Karkaria is associate editor of The Times of India, the
world’s largest English-language broadsheet. She is in charge
of the paper’s Delhi edition, it’s largest.
Prior to joining The Times of India, Karkaria was group editorial
director of the Mid Day Group in Mumbai, India. She attended the IWMF’s
international leadership conference, a gathering of top women journalists
from around the globe, which was held in Washington, DC, in 2000.
From 1998 to 2000 Karkaria was editor of the Sunday Times of India.
She is returning to The Times of India, where, in 1996, she
helped turn around the paper’s Bangalore edition, lifting it from
number four in the country to number one.
In 2002, Karkaria became the first Indian appointed to the board of
the World Editors Forum.
