International Women’s Media Foundation Names New Board Members, Co-Chairs
Washington, DC – The International Women’s Media Foundation today announced five new members of its board of directors:
- Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international correspondent. Amanpour, who is based in London, is a 1994 recipient of the IWMF’s Courage in Journalism Award.
- Theodore J. Boutrous Jr., a partner in the Los Angeles and Washington, DC, offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Boutrous has represented top media organizations and reporters in a wide array of matters.
- Campbell Brown, co-anchor of NBC’s Today Weekend Edition. Brown is also a primary correspondent for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and the weekday Today show.
- Ferial Haffajee, editor of the Johannesburg, South Africa Mail & Guardian. Haffajee also chairs the South African National Editors’ Forum and is a regular radio and television commentator.
- Peggy White, general manager of Yahoo! Finance. White oversees all areas of operations for the financial website. She previously worked for BusinessWeek online and MSNBC.com.
Outgoing board members will serve on an advisory council for the IWMF. They are:
- Barbara Cochran, president, Radio-Television News Directors Association
- Susan King, vice president, public affairs, the Carnegie Corporation of New York
- Bailey Morris-Eck, columnist, (London) Financial News
- Cynthia Tucker, editorial page editor, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
- Narda Zacchino, deputy editor, The San Francisco Chronicle
The International Women’s Media Foundation was launched in 1990 with a mission to strengthen the role of women in the news media worldwide. The IWMF network includes women and men in the media in more than 130 countries worldwide.
