Women in the Media: A Focus on Leadership
For its 10th anniversary, the IWMF brought together more than 100 of the most influential women in news media from 60 countries in May 2000. Women in the Media: A Focus on Leadership was the first gathering of leading women in print, broadcasting and online media around the world.
The three-day program offered opportunities to assess leadership strengths, discuss cutting-edge technological trends in the media and share personal strategies for success.
Prior to the workshop, the IWMF conducted a survey to ask top women in the media about leadership and management issues; the results were released at the conference. Some 120 women from six continents answered questions about their careers, obstacles they face as women, what it takes to succeed in the media and the qualities of leadership.
This project was supported by The Freedom Forum, with additional contributions from The New York Times, Time Warner Inc., Bloomberg LP, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and The Coca-Cola Company.
