Leadership Development
Course Outline

Welcome to Leadership Development. This online course is based on a series of workshops organized by the IWMF for women journalists from throughout the United States in 2002 and 2003. In developing this online course, the IWMF built on the materials and information presented at those workshops, which was designed and delivered by Cheryl Epps of Epps Consulting in Washington, DC.

This course is designed to give journalists tools, skills and information for thinking about aspects of leadership in the news media. It is divided into five modules, each of which will take approximately 25-30 minutes to complete. You may complete the course in one sitting or in multiple sittings. The modules are listed in a recommended order, but you may view them and take them in any order.

Each module includes training goals, a summary of key concepts, specific examples and real-life scenarios. We hope that you will find the information contained here to be useful to you in your work. Please let us know what you think!
