Glossary

Aggressive: Getting your own way without concern for the needs or rights of others.

 

Assertive: Taking care of yourself and your needs and rights without trampling on the needs and rights of others.

 

Behavioral repertoire: The set of responses available to you.

 

Inauthentic Personal Style: A pattern of behavior that does not demonstrate your true feelings, thereby giving people an inaccurate picture of who you are and what you feel.

 

Passive: Deferring to others, not looking out for your own needs or rights.

 

Passive/Aggressive: Acting or responding submissively initially, but engaging in an act or behaviors that reveals the anger and aggression you actually feel.

 

Personal Style: A pattern of individual responses that can be generally characterized or described.
