The IWMF Announces Contribution to Lebanon Media Recovery Fund on behalf of Raghida Dergham
In honor of Advisory Council member Raghida Dergham, the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is pleased to announce a contribution of $10,000 to the Samir Kassir Foundation’s Lebanon Media Recovery Fund. As Lebanon rebuilds after an August 4 explosion in Beirut, these funds will provide emergency assistance to journalists in dire need of support.
Dergham, a co-founder of the IWMF, is a veteran Lebanese American journalist currently living in Beirut; while she was unharmed in the recent Port of Beirut explosion, her home was destroyed. As Dergham and her fellow Lebanon-based journalists recover from the impact of this crisis, we are committed to supporting their health, safety and ability to report.
Developed in the aftermath of the explosion, the Samir Kassir Foundation’s Lebanon Media Recovery Fund provides funding for medical aid; damaged equipment; work environment needs; trauma and mental health support; investigative work; and, overall economic livelihood.
To further our support for Lebanon-based journalists in need, the IWMF is accepting additional donations for the fund on Dergham’s behalf. Donations can be made at bit.ly/IWMFDonate by selecting Raghida Dergham – Lebanon Media Recovery Fund under “What would you like your donation to support?”
