Ankita Rao is a special projects editor at VICE. Based in Brooklyn, she reports on health and urbanization, and edits multimedia projects on these issues. In the past, Ankita covered health and gender in rural India as a freelancer and received grants to investigate health systems for the New York Times, Foreign Policy, The Atlantic, Al Jazeera and others. She was also a web reporter at nonprofit news service Kaiser Health News, where she focused on health disparities and rollout of Obamacare. Ankita attended the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and University of Florida. Ankita Rao is a 2019 Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice in the Americas grantee and her work will focus on the forced sterilization of indigenous women in Canada and the U.S.
