Alice Proujansky is a freelance photojournalist based in New York. She photographs women and labor: birth, work, motherhood and identity. Her work has been published by New York Magazine, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, The New Republic, Fast Company, the Guardian and others. She has received support from the Magnum Foundation, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, the Solutions Journalism Network and the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, and was selected for Review Santa Fe 2014 and the New York Portfolio Review 2016. Her first book, Go Photo! An Activity Book for Kids was recently published by Aperture. Alice graduated from New York University and has taught photography to at-risk young people and their teachers since 2002, currently through Aperture. Her photographs have been exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York, International Photo Festival Leiden, Photoville, the Oso Bay Biennial, San José Foto and United Photo Industries.
