Alleen Brown is a reporter for The Intercept, a nonprofit investigative news outlet, where she writes about environmental justice. Her coverage often intersects with Indigenous issues, violence against women, and criminalization of protest. She previously worked as the organization’s first fact-checker, developing and coordinating the fact-check program in the publication’s early days. Prior to working for The Intercept, she wrote about education for the Minneapolis based Twin Cities Daily Planet, which is dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices. And as an intern at The Nation, she organized with her cohort for a living wage for future interns, which the magazine now provides. Her reporting has been published in The Nation, YES! Magazine, In These Times, City Pages, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and other publications. She lives in Brooklyn.
