Anna Lekas Miller is a freelance journalist who focuses on the human impact of foreign and national security policies. She started her career in Ramallah as a blogger for The Daily Beast, and went on to Beirut and Istanbul to cover the Syrian civil war and ensuing refugee crisis for Deutsche Welle, The Intercept and many other publications. Most recently she was in Iraq, covering the fall of the so-called Islamic State in Mosul and its impact on the region. No matter where she is reporting, Anna strives to find stories of people survive war, conflict and adversity and continue to live their lives, fighting for those they love and what they believe in no matter what stands in their way. She cannot wait to expand this reporting to the DRC, and is honored to join the IWMF in this adventure.
