Deepa Padmanaban is a freelance journalist based in Bangalore, India. For the last nine years, she has been writing on science, environment, wildlife conservation, health and climate change for national and international news publications and magazines such as IndiaSpend, Mint, The Guardian, National Geographic, Quartz, Mongabay, Sapiens,The Third Pole, AGU’s eos, etc. In a previous avatar, she was a biomedical researcher at IISc Bangalore, Germany and Harvard University. She has been selected as a South Asia Speaks Fellow, 2022 for a reportage project based in Karnataka. She’s also been selected as a Kiplinger Fellow to attend a weeklong journalism program on climate change in Ohio University, in April 2022. She is a dog mama, composting champion and amateur gardener.
