Ema O'Connor is a reporter on BuzzFeed News' politics team. For years she was the reproductive rights and women's health reporter at BuzzFeed News, she now works on projects related to religion and federal politics. Before BuzzFeed, Ema worked at The Guardian in London on the books desk. She graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor's degree in literature and art history before deciding to follow the real money-maker: journalism. She was born and raised in Manhattan, right next to the Seinfeld diner. You can find her work on buzzfeed.com/emaoconnor. Ema O'Connor is a 2019 Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice in the Americas grantees. She is working with Jessica Bal to follow the story of a woman they met hours after she climbed the fence from Mexico into the US and claimed asylum — she was 7 months pregnant.
