Erika Beras currently covers Wealth and Poverty for Marketplace, an American Public Media program heard on NPR stations across the U.S. As a freelancer, she was a regular contributor to Scientific American podcasts and radio programs The World, Morning Edition, Monocle 24 and Latino USA. Her print work has appeared in publications such as the MIT Technology Review, NewYorker.com She has won awards including the Rolling Stone Award for College Journalism and awards from the Associated Press and received fellowships from The Dart Center for Trauma and Journalism, Third Coast Festival, The International Center for Journalists, The Center for Health Journalism and The Radio and Television Digital News Association. She lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Formerly a reporter at The Miami Herald, she is a graduate of The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.
