Gabriela Barzallo

Originally from Ecuador, Gabriela Barzallo is a bilingual journalist and media entrepreneur based in New York City. She attended New York University and covers human rights, environmental issues, the Amazon rainforest, and international politics. Her work has appeared in Democracy Now!, Al Jazeera, NPR, The North American Congress of Latin America, Refinery29, Diario Tiempo Argentino, etc. Besides her IWMF grant, she is also a One World Media Fellow and a LEDE Fellow of the Solutions Journalism Network. She was one of the 21 journalists from across the US selected for a Google News Initiative's Bootcamp for media entrepreneurs where she founded Latitude, a newsletter and multimedia site that focuses on Latin America and the US from a solutions-journalistic perspective.
