Ilam Lonie is a South Sudanese based broadcast journalist that started her career as a citizen journalist after completing her studies in Kampala Uganda in 2015. Having acquired series of journalistic trainings and coming from a culturally conservative community, most of her stories speak of women rights and gender equality. She has revealed some of the negative cultural practices that deprive women of their rights like girl child compensation in her stories. Lonie has featured successful women in her community as part of her stories to inspire women's empowerment. She is currently reporting for a community faith-based radio and is looking forward to upgrading her education in the field of journalism.
