Jamila Akweley Okertchiri is a female journalist who wakes up daily with the excitement of transforming society and individual lives through the power of the pen and camera. With over five years of experience in print and online journalism, she has carved a niche for health and human rights journalism in the Ghanaian media industry. Jamila currently works on the health, human rights and features’ desk for the Daily Guide newspaper. She has, through the power of the media, told stories of the less privileged and created awareness on issues like mental health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, water and sanitation and now COVID-19. Her stories have been recognized by the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) and contributed to her selection to various international training programmes.
