Kira Walker is an independent journalist and photographer focusing on the environment, with a particular interest in biodiversity, foodways and traditional knowledge. Her work has been published by the BBC, Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, Earth Island Journal and Nature Middle East, among other publications, and has been supported by the IWMF and journalismfund.eu. She holds a MSc. in Human Security from Aarhus University, Denmark, and a BA in Geography, with distinction, from the University of Victoria, Canada. Kira grew up in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies and currently calls a small mountain village in Andalusia home after chapters in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Egypt.
