Lee Middleton is an American journalist based in Cape Town, South Africa. Exploring the interplay between urbanization, wildlife conservation, and humanitarianism, her work has been published in TIME, Cityscapes Magazine, the UK Guardian, and Quartz Africa. She recently began work on a longform project examining the way societies can better care for vulnerable children in an increasingly fractured global world, specifically looking at the inequalities and trade-offs underlying the practice of transracial international adoption. Lee has degrees in religious studies, creative writing, and sustainable development, and previously worked as a wildlife researcher studying tigers and their prey in Thailand.
