Lorena Ríos Treviño is a multimedia reporter formerly based in Egypt and Turkey. She has covered social justice and human-interest stories as a freelance writer in different countries for English and Spanish media. She learned video storytelling at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and became a Video Fellow at The Charlotte Observer. She is passionate about telling stories that spark conversations and inspire fresh takes on old issues. Her work has appeared in Roads and Kingdoms, Al-Jazeera, Newsweek, Vice, El Confidencial, Huck among others. Lorena Rios is a 2019 Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice in the Americas grantee. She is working with Heba Dlweti to report on the ways in which stigma stifles sexual education in El Salvador.
