Najia Safi is an Afghan freelance journalist and civil activist based in Virginia. Her work focuses on women's rights, democracy, civil liberties, freedom of expression, gender justice, women healthcare and education for minorities. She has 15 years experience in advocacy for women's rights, civil society and journalism. She started her journalism career with the state-run Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) in Kabul and worked for Radio Free Europe, SBS-Afghanistan and Killid Group (TKG) and many more. In 2017, she received the "Malali Hero of Maiwand” Award for her work as a journalist in Afghansitan.
