Ojoma Akor is the health editor of Daily Trust newspaper, a national daily in Nigeria. She has won awards such as the print category of the ‘Stay at Home’ media recognition awards to raise awareness on coronavirus, organised by Merck Foundation and African First Ladies in 2020. Others include the print category of the Africa Health Budget Media Awards (2020), award of excellence for nutrition reporting by the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH), the PACFaH Media Excellence Awards, and several awards within her organization Daily Trust. Akor is a fellow of the International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ) Global Nutrition and Food Security Reporting Fellowship, 2021, the 10th International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference on HIV Science, Mexico, 2019; the HIV Research for Prevention (HIVR4P 2018) global conference in Madrid, Spain, as well as the Research for Prevention (RV4P) virtual conference in 2020.
