Oswaldo J. Hernández cofounded the journalistic project No-Ficción en Guatemala in 2017. He is currently Co-Coordinator of the same digital media outlet. In 2019, his investigative work on corruption in sports in Guatemala was recognized among the 15 best in Latin America by the Latin American Conference of Investigative Journalism (COLPIN). In 2016, Hernández won the National Journalism Award in Guatemala. He was a finalist for the Daniel Pearl Award in 2013 for his collaboration with the Insight Crime team after addressing drug trafficking issues in the northern triangle of Central America. He was part of the digital media outlet Plaza Pública, where he obtained the 2014 Inter-American Press Association Award for following up on issues of human rights violations during the armed conflict in Guatemala. Also, after coverage of the genocide trial in Guatemala, he was a finalist for the 2014 Gabriel García Márquez Ibero-American Journalism Foundation Award in Colombia. His journalistic work has been included in the book “El futuro empezó ayer. Apuesta por las nuevas escrituras de Guatemala” published by UNESCO. He has worked as an investigative journalist in Guatemalan in media outlets such as Plaza Pública, Siglo XXI and elPeriódico. He was general editor of the magazine RARA, specialized in art and architecture. He has also been a contributor to FACTum magazine in El Salvador, Anfibia in Argentina and Luna Park magazine in Quetzaltenango.
