R. Joyclyn Wea is an investigative Journalist and a senior New Narratives fellow. She has more than eight years of experience in daily journalism. Joyclyn is a courtroom and women reporter with the New Republic Newspaper and a senior Fact-Checker with Stage Media, Liberia’s first fact-checking institution. She has traversed challenging tasks and assignments holding politicians accountable and creating change in Liberian society over her more than eight-year professional adventure. As a young lady, Joyclyn is presently coaching upcoming female journalists to take charge of their various newsrooms and overcome any obstacles that would prevent them from reaching their greatest potential in this field. Joyclyn saw this as her dream come true and decided to take on a mentoring role at the Female Journalists Association of Liberia, where she assists aspiring female journalists with specialized journalism skills in the areas of fact-checking, transitional justice, courtroom, elections, women’s rights and reporting on people with disabilities.
