Samanta Helou Hernandez is a multimedia journalist and visual storyteller. Her work revolves around Latinx culture and how it informs identity, history, and social issues. She has been published by LA Weekly, Remezcla, and KCET, among others. Samanta was a lead researcher and story producer on a documentary series about Latinos and their relationship to cannabis for We Are Mitu. She was also an Arts and Culture fellow at KCET where she contributed as an editor and produced multimedia stories. Samanta is currently an associate producer for "A Woman's Work," a feature documentary about wage theft in NFL cheerleading. In 2017, she started "This Side of Hoover," an Instagram account archiving the legacies as well as the rapid gentrification of Virgil Village, a small neighborhood in East Hollywood. Samanta was an Annenberg Fellow at USC where she received an M.A. in Arts Journalism. Her work has been exhibited at the Mexican Consulate of Los Angeles and at the International Center of Photography.

Samanta Helou Hernandez es una periodista multimedia y de narrativa visual. Su trabajo esta enfocado a la cultura Latinx y su influencia en la identidad, historia y problemas sociales. El trabajo de Samanta ha sido publicado en LA Weekly, Remezcla y KCET entre otros. Ella fue líder del de investigación y productora de narración para We Are Mitu en una serie documental sobre los Latinos y su relación con marijuana. Ella fue también becaria de Arte y Cultura en KCE, en donde contribuyó como editora y productora multimedia.- Samanta es actualmente Productora Asociada para “A Woman’s Work”, un documental de largometraje sobre el robo de salarios a las porristas en la NFL. Samanta fue becaria en USC donde obtuvo la Maestría en Periodismo de Arte. Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en el Consulado Mexicano en Los Ángeles y en el Centro Internacional de Fotografía en Nueva York.
