Sophie Pilgrim covers the United Nations in New York for FRANCE 24 online and Radio France Internationale. At the UN, her reporting focuses mainly on Africa and the Middle East. She has covered sexual abuse scandals in Central African Republic, peacekeeping operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the international response to the Syrian conflict. She was previously based in Paris, where she helped found FRANCE 24’s award-winning collaborative journalism project, The Observers. Pilgrim’s work has appeared in Al-Monitor, Vice magazine and the Financial Times. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Southampton Solent University, where she also passed her National Training for the Council of Journalists exams.
