What is the IWMF’s Women Deliver Reporting Grants?

The IWMF’s Women Deliver Reporting Grants, sponsored by Women Deliver, is a new funding initiative address the need for reporting and increased media coverage of women and girls as agents of positive change in developing countries.

Funding will be awarded in March 2020. Grants will average from $3,000 to $10,000 USD and will be awarded to cover reporting-related costs including: travel, logistics, visa fees, post-production costs, security, and payment for local assistants/drivers/translators.

What are the requirements of the grants?

Applicants to this initiative are required to submit a publishing plan with news outlets in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States,

Women journalists from anywhere in the world and who are currently working as journalists can apply for support. Applicants must have three or more years of professional work experience and must currently be working as a journalist with journalism as their primary profession. Teams of journalists may apply; however, the submission must be from a woman journalist and your team must include at least 50% women. Staff journalists and teams of staff journalists within news organizations are eligible to apply for funding, as well as freelance journalists.

The IWMF believes that gender does not conform to one notion. We are inclusive of all journalists who identify as women, which includes trans women, and non-binary people.

All applications must be filled out online via the IWMF’s online application system. We encourage applicants to consider a one-year timeline or less for completion and publication of their project.

How much money will be given away for this initiative?

A total of $40,000 will be dispersed for this initiative. Grant sizes will depend on the project pitched – most grants will average approximately $5,000 USD.

All applications must include a detailed preliminary budget and timeline.

What is the deadline for submission?

The deadline for application is February 16, 2020.
