Catherine Henderson is a Senior Program Coordinator at the IWMF, focused on safety initiatives and newsroom trainings.

Before joining the IWMF, she worked at a wide variety of newsrooms, including The Denver Post, Chalkbeat, Business Insider and In These Times, covering education, career development and community arts. Having experienced the physical, mental and emotional demands of working in media, she decided to join the IWMF to improve newsroom safety practices and open new opportunities for responsible reporting worldwide.

Catherine grew up in Denver, Colorado, and holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, exploring Chicago, reading and analyzing internet trends.
