A lover of sports, entertainment and storytelling, Christina M. Tapper is an award-winning digital editor and champion of women and education. In 2016 she helped launch Bleacher Report’s award-winning multiplatform digital sports and culture magazine B/R Mag. At B/R, she led some of the company’s most premium editorial experiences, rooted in high-impact, personality-driven and inclusive storytelling to ignite and drive conversation among sports fans across platforms. Christina was promoted to managing editor of B/R Mag in 2018, the same year Folio named her one of its distinguished Top Women in Media and honored her as a “Change-Maker.” She was also recognized by the Poynter Institute’s Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media and Take The Lead’s 50 Women Can Change the World in Journalism program.
Prior to landing at Bleacher Report, Christina conceptualized, wrote and edited stories for Sports Illustrated Kids. At SI Kids, Christina secured high profile athletes and individuals, such as NBA champions Stephen Curry and First Lady Michelle Obama for print and digital stories. In 2014, Christina helped spearhead the brand’s SportsKid of the Year franchise, which won a Cynopsis Media award for best promotional campaign. In addition, she mentored students through the brand’s Kid Reporters program.
Before her arrival at SI Kids, Christina was a reporter for People magazine, where she penned celebrity and human interest stories. Her work has been featured in Essence, Seventeen, InStyle, ESPN The Magazine, Jet and Black Enterprise.
She is also a founding board member of Achievers Early College Prep, a STEAM-focused public charter school for grades 6-12 in Trenton, New Jersey she helped open in 2018.
Christina is a proud graduate of Rutgers University, where she taught four semesters of magazine writing as an adjunct professor, shaping the next generation of intrepid and innovative storytellers. She also earned a Master’s degree in publishing from Pace University.
