Esther Nakkazi is a health and science reporter based in Kampala, Uganda, and the founder of the Health Journalists Network in Uganda (HEJNU –www.hejnu.ug). She is also a media trainer and mentors journalists in science reporting. She was a mentor and trainer in the Mentoring for a science journalism project for the World Federation of Science Journalists, and contributes to media outlets around the world. She started her journalism career at The EastAfrican, a weekly regional newspaper. She is a graduate of Makerere University in Uganda and has a post-graduate degree from the Uganda Management Institute. She won a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship to spend the 2007-08 year at Harvard and MIT in Cambridge, and was a journalist in residence at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp in 2016. She is also a 2020 Chevening Africa Media Freedom Fellowship fellow.
