Associate Development Manager
Sara Johnson works as the Associate Development Manager at the IWMF, where she supports fundraising initiatives, grants, events, and donor engagement.
Sara began her career in the hospitality industry before deciding to utilize her service-oriented background to make a difference at non-profit organizations. Most recently, Sara worked in development at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, an animal welfare organization serving thousands of homeless pets each year. She deeply understands the value of storytelling and how it can have a lasting impact capable of shifting perspectives and influencing positive change. She’s honored to be a part of amplifying the voices of and stories told by women and nonbinary journalists globally.
Originally from Virginia, Sara holds a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Hospitality Management from Virginia Tech. Whenever she can, she loves going to concerts, trying new foods, and being on or near the water around Maine as much as possible – preferably with her dog.
