IGNORANCE CURTAILING GOVERNMENT EFFORTS IN CERVICAL CANCER DRIVE IN KALANGALA DISTRICT
In Uganda, vaccination of young girls aged between 10 and 11 years was launched in November 2015, as per the World Health Organization directive of eliminating cervical cancer globally.
In this first episode, we look at how Parents in Kalangala District are shunning the exercise due to Ignorance and myths about the vaccine.
Seven years down the road, this drive has not been successful in various Islands in Kalangala district, mainly because parents do not under stand cervical cancer issues and the need to vaccinate their young girls with the HPV Vaccine due to the low levels of Education in the District.
