A lot of time in a reporter’s life is spent waiting, and a large chunk of
that time is spent waiting for big men.
This week the North Kivu governor kept a group of IWMF fellows waiting at
his office, an impressive building with a huge lawn that slopes back to
Lake Kivu. The red brick mansion is in fact the former dictator’s Mobutu
Sese Seko’s Goma residence.
The interior, which includes a plastic marble and ivory imitation table, is
now very well documented.
