I’m not really a dog person (I know, I know!), but this one is a sweetheart. She spends her days trotting around Casa del Migrante, a shelter for male migrants in Tijuana, collecting love from human after human. Photographer Meghan Dhaliwal gave her a few pats as she and our fixer Gaby Martinez and I talked to former New Yorker Padre Pat Murphy, who runs the shelter. The dog pranced away, sniffing the floor for snacks.

“She’s a migrant, too,” Padre Murphy told us.
