Meet Christine Bolaños @betterthanloislane, “I was absolutely blown away by the number of women who shatter the stereotype of the Salvadoran woman: that of one who is submissive, not fighting the abuse at home, one who is viewed as property, and meant to serve the men in her life. All the women I met are strong, courageous, determined and passionate, who not only want to have an impact in their own households, but also in their communities. This is something that needs to be known across the world, to change the way we view Salvadoran women. Only when the media starts to focus on these positive stories, we can change the conversations and hopefully find the solutions to the problems that plague this country and other countries like El Salvador. It was an absolutely enlightening experience and I feel so fortunate to have taken part in this fellowship, but I do know that the women I met and stories I told are only a small glimpse of that other story.” #IWMFfellows were on the ground in #Colombia and #ElSalvador in August 2016.
