Meet Giuliana Miranda: “Being a freelance journalist sometime means shaping narratives in a way that can be more easily sold. The IWMF gave me the opportunity and support to pursue the stories that I felt needed to be told. Africa as a whole, and Uganda in particular, is severely underreported in the rest of the world. When I finally hit the ground in Gulu, despite the previous two months of preparation, I was overwhelmed. Luckily I was surrounded by an experienced team of women journalists and, instead of being completely lost, I ended up inspired by their amazing work. I am very thankful for being part of this group.”
#IWMFfellows were on the ground in Uganda in September 2016. Check out iwmfontheground.tumblr.com to see more of IWMF reporting trips in Africa and Latin America. Follow the link in our bio to check out open opportunities with the IWMF.
