Most people had their eyes forward in church, on the preaching and the singing and the ecstatic emotion of the congregation. When I got in there I watched Shayla. She has a way of being perfectly still and non-threatening even though she’s got some pretty serious gear. It takes so much awareness to work in a foreign country, on top of the presence of mind required to control your recording of the images and sound in the room. I’m really enjoying learning from these women I’ve been privileged to work near.
