My colleague Jessica A. reports at a migrant shelter in Juarez, in front of a beautiful mural of La Bestia — a train that traverses the length of Mexico and is a popular form of transportation for migrants heading north. One of the most amazing parts of this trip is getting to watch some badass female journalists from all of the world report on stories that matter to them, and tackle issues they’re concerned about, shaped largely by the places they’ve come from. Jessica is from El Salvador, and I can’t wait to see what she does with the stories of all the Salvadoran refugees entering Mexico we’ve encountered in the last two weeks. —Melissa L.
