On Thursday I went to a reconciliation village in Kabarondo, in Rwanda’s Eastern Province. These villages bring together genocide perpetrators and survivors to live and work together. Before the genocide, Dianney, far left, was the neighbor of Gratier, far right. During the genocide, he killed several members of Gratier’s family. When Prison Fellowship Rwanda brought the group together to live in the village, Dianney asked Gratier for forgiveness. Today, they are next door neighbors and manage the village poultry co-op.
