One of the bigger challenges about working in a group here has been how far away everything is, not to mention the traffic you have to battle to get there! Kampala traffic is pretty infamous and you have to allot a significant amount of time to get anywhere during rush hour.

Distance and traffic were a struggle on our way to Jinja yesterday, Kimberly and our fixer Ronald had to check out the map a few times to gauge how far away everything is to see if we would make it to all the interviews. Jinja is home to the source of the Nile, and the community is engaged in a struggle regarding how the emergence of dams in Jinja may affect the tourism industry and its popular white water rafting.

After a bumpy few hours in the car, we got to see the beautiful Nile up close and some pretty amazing Rapids at Itanda Falls. Kudos to our awesome driver Rashid who managed to get us home on the back roads and avoid all the Kampala traffic!
