This is Lily, a recent secondary school graduate in Ngoma District, Rwanda. I interviewed her this week through a translator with my Washington Post colleague, video journalist Whitney Shefte. Lily’s mother, Jacqueline, was the only person in her family to survive the genocide. So, after she climbs out of the bed they share every morning, Lily says the same prayer: “May God help my mom, my neighbors, my country and those who hate me.”
