It’s always nice to show up for a reporting trip with a few basic phrases
in the local language… no matter how badly you pronounce them. Here are
some rudimentary Kinyarwanda pleasantries I’ve picked up so far in Kigali:

Hello! (informal) / Bite
How are you? / Amakuru (Response: Ni meza)
My name is… / Nitwa…
Thank you / Murakoze
Excuse me / Imbabazi
Goodbye / Murabeho
Cheers! / Kubuzima bwacu!
