
Yes, that is a stack of coffins….
IWMF Fixer Ronald Barasa helped me interview a woman in Kampala who sells coffins and the “bark cloth” (the orange cloth stacked on top of the caskets) traditionally used to wrap the bodies of the dead in the Kingdom of Buganda in central Uganda. Some designers are trying to use this traditional cloth, made from the bark of ficus trees, in everyday clothing.
