Yesterday, me and driver Vincent left the hotel at 04:30 to drive three hours to a place we visited the day before, where they had told me I was welcome back. My plan was to follow a guy doing his work for six hours, and eventually stay longer, even to the next day. We arrived early, had breakfast and then met the guy at his workplace. He welcomed us and went to change his clothes. Suddenly, an other guy waved us over to his office. He was some kind of boss, and he told me I could not take any photos before visiting the regional authority 90 kms away. Gotten somewhat used to these procedures, I was not really surprised – but of course disappointed.
When we returned to Dar at lunchtime, Hannah and May were on their way to Bagamoyo, a fishing village two hours north of town, and I decided to join them. It was such a relief to go away and do and see something else, actually use the camera and talk to people about other things than my own topic!
